Blue foamie is a very easy to build and cheap electric airplane. It is a fun airplane to fly and is pretty resistant to impacts. It's fuselage is a simple 2 inches square beam that is hollowed out lenghtwise. It's wing is also built from bleu foam with a 3/32 in balsa spar. It is covered with packing tape.
Motor incidence and stabilisator decalage needed some experimentation therafter the plane flew correctly. A friend built an elongated version of the Blue Foamie : 60 inches wingspan, elongated fuselage and the motor mounted on a pod over the wing. This plane demonstrated interresting flight caracteristics : it is almost an electric powered sailplane.
Using recent technology (brushless motor and NiMh Batteries), this plane should fly even better.
Cost is minimal. Construction time is minimal. Fun is maximal.
